… beim Durchstarten seiner Messerschmitt Bf 109 aufgrund Schlechtwetters tödlich. An der Absturzstelle erinnert ein Gedenkstein an das Schicksal des deutschen Piloten. On April 7, 1942, Lt. Ulrich Schumann had a fatal accident while taking off in his Messerschmitt Bf 109 due to bad weather. A memorial stone at the crash site remembers the fate of the German pilot.

Der Gedenkstein liegt nahe der Küste, unweit einer deutschen Stellung und einem kleinen Hafen. Auf dem Bild ist rechts der Pilot zu sehen (Das Bildrecht liegt bei E. Mombeek). Auf dem Gedenkstein sind neben dem Adler noch der Name das (Geburts-) Datum 25.02.1919 und die Worte „… den Fliegertod“ zu erkennen. The memorial stone is located near the coast, not far from a German position and a small harbor. The pilot can be seen on the right in the picture (E. Mombeek holds the image rights). On the memorial stone, next to the eagle, the name, the (birth) date 25.02.1919 and the words „… den Fliegertod“ can be seen.
